The medicinal plant garden

One of the major activities of TBG is the promotion of traditional herbs. Alarge number of herbs and spices, both indigenous and exotic, are cultivated. Available species include Artemisia annua(malaria treatment and prevention), Prunus Africana, warbugiaUgandensis ,Ocimumbasilicum, Hibiscus sabdariffa whose flower calyxes are processed to produce the famous karkade tea and numerous types of mint (Menthaspp). TBG staff maintain, dry, processes and market these herbs and spices. Visitors may also walk through the medicinal plant garden to see demonstrations of centellaasiatica and Prunus Africana among others.
